Duck Tales

So today our little family finally visited Chisolm Park to feed the ducks. It was so sweet to watch Jack and Aren interact and share that moment together.

Jack really enjoyed feeding the "toast" to the birds and probably would have stayed there all day if he could. He really got a big kick out of feeding the birds when they would pick up his bread and he could watch them eat it.

My favorite part of this day was watching my little family interact but Leo thinking of what it's going to be like to bring my 2 kids there one day. I know that will add a completely different dynamic and be even more fun.

Tomorrow, we are finally doing Jack's 2 year pictures with a friend of our family so I'm hoping they turn out well.

Oh and before I close- if you are reading this and you are a parent of all boys I would love to share some guest posts of do's and don'ts for the rest of us newbies out there. Just drop me a comment and we will see what We can work out :)

Til tomorrow,

Done With School!

So this week is a big week for me, it is the first week that I am officially done with school! Come May 21, I will be officially walking across the stage in Lubbock!

So I spent my first day off back in my favorite role- mommy!

Jack got to eat lunch at Chilis with Gram, Pop Pop, Dad and mom. Jack's favorite part of lunch was eating ranch with everything! And when he ran out, he told "want more ranch please!"

Our original intent was to go from Chilis to the park to enjoy the nice weather but Jack wanted to go to Target with Gram. We had a great time picking out lawn furniture and here's was Jack's favorite-

Overall, it was a really fun day and I'm excited to see what kind of adventures we will have the rest of this week!

To The Market We Go....

Well today was more of a usual Saturday around the Haggard home for us. We went to Little Gym this morning for the first time in a couple of weeks. If you have young kids and are able, I highly recommend looking into Little Gym. It has been so good for Jack and taught him cooperation and working well with others (for the most part).

We went to the Keller Farmer's Market for opening day and lesson learned about getting there after 10 (don't do it). We had a good time and enjoyed checking in with our favorite vendors but what a mad house! We used to go around 8-9 in the morning and they have way more selection. Today's purchases included a cookie from Chez Katherine (of course), some sausage from a new vendor (whose name escapes me at the moment, and some other sausage from Texas Heritage Beef.
The best part about the farmer's market today was that Jack decided for some reason he was going to get some green onions. This started at Sprouts but as part of my goal to buy locally I encouraged him to wait til we got to the farmer's market to see if we could find some there. Well we did and Jack held on to them for dear life and started taking them apart in the car.

So needless to say our car now smells like someone cooked hamburgers in it but it was a fun exploration time for Jack. I will keep you updated as he picks the next vegetable of the week!

Getting Ready For Baby

So it is now May 3 and after about 5pm today I will officially no longer be a student. Which is a weird feeling for someone who has pretty much gone to school for the past 14 years without stopping (a story for another day).
Today I paid to have my regalia mailed to me to take stress off me trying to locate someone when I get to Lubbock in a few weeks. We are going to be at my graduation May 21 and it's definitely going to be an interesting event. It will be Jack's first road trip and I will be walking across the stage about 20 weeks pregnant.
After graduation, I have my certification test to study for (coming up in July) and some fun events (concerts) to look forward to in June so it will be a busy few months until October when the baby comes. Since we found out we are having a boy, we have been trying to teach Jack the baby's name which he is getting but he is still adamant that Carson will be sleeping on the wall where he belongs and not in Jack's bed so that should be interesting.
We woke up this morning to almost December like temperatures so it's not making me feel very inspired to do much of anything besides sit in my jammies and think about my to-do list. Tomorrow, we get to go to the first day at our local farmer's market for the season which is always a fun time for us. I will take pics of the goodies if I can and share my love of all things local and organic. I am really looking forward to making some things around the house that I have seen on blogs I like, my first to do I think is going to be some all natural/organic sour gummy stars so I'm excited!
Here's to the weekend-

The First Post

Yesterday was my birthday and it was a special one. This was my first and only birthday that I will have while expecting a baby. To commemorate the occasion, my parents were nice enough to give us money to go get a gender scan (ours was supposed to be May 23). We went to our appointment and found out we are expecting another boy, which definitely makes me outnumbered in the house now!

Since I finally finished my internship this week, I figured it would be a great time for me to re-enter the blogging world and chronicle this family journey for us. This morning, I began looking online for any sort of resources on how to handle 2 sons or how to survive in a males-only house and I didn't see a whole lot of blogs about this so I thought I would throw my story in there.

Currently, there are 3 men in this house, my husband Aren, my brother Alex and my son Jack. Being the only girl with 3 guys has already been quite the experience and I'm sure it will get a lot more interesting with the arrival of #4.

I decided to call my blog "Raisin' Sons" because hey, we are in Texas so I can get away with a little Southern drawl and it reminded me of the play A Raisin in the Sun. So stick around and enjoy the ride with me, lots more to come :)
